A SUPER PREMIUM HIGH FAT, GRAIN-FREE, BEET PULP-BASED FEED FOR ALL HORSES. IDEAL FOR OLDER HORSES, RESCUED/STARVED HORSES, HARD KEEPERS, AND HORSES UNABLE TO MASTICATE THEIR FEED OR FORAGE ADEQUATELY. THE LOW SOLUBLE CARBOHYDRATE LEVEL OF TRIPLE CROWN SENIOR MAKES IT A DIETARY OPTION FOR HORSES WITH METABOLIC ISSUES SUCH AS INSULIN RESISTANCE.
Developed specifically for older horses, Triple Crown Senior features a beet pulp-based formula with a higher nutrient and fat content to provide older horses with the digestive assistance and energy they need. Plus, Triple Crown Senior is a softer feed that can be mixed with water to form a mash for horses that have difficulty chewing and swallowing. Triple Crown Senior includes enough bulk fiber to be used as a sole ration for horses unable to eat hay or pasture. Senior also works well for horses of any age where you want to maximize fiber and keep starch and sugar low. Consider senior for horses with compromised digestive systems or teeth issues.
The guarantees on our website are the most current. You will notice, we have increased a number of nutrient guarantees below and added a few new ingredients to reflect our updates to EquiMix. The ingredients listed on the website are in your bag of feed now. New feed bags will match these improvements over time.
Feeding Directions
Triple Crown Senior is designed for horses that have difficulty consuming hay and traditional horse feeds in pelleted or textured form due to damaged or worn teeth. The nutrient concentration of Triple Crown Senior has also been adjusted to provide a greater allowance to older and other metabolically challenged horses that sometimes experience difficulty in digesting and/or metabolizing normal feedstuffs, minerals and vitamins.
IF YOUR HORSE CAN EAT HAY: Provide good quality hay and/or pasture, salt, and fresh, clean water on a free-choice basis. Adjust the amount of Triple Crown Senior fed on a daily basis in order to maintain the horse's body condition at a moderate level. Begin with approximately 6 pounds of Triple Crown Senior per day and then adjust up or down as needed after 2 to 4 weeks in order to maintain desired body condition. Do not feed more than 5 pounds of Triple Crown Senior at a single meal. Allow 3 to 4 hours between meals when feeding 4 to 5 pounds of Triple Crown Senior at a single meal.
IF YOUR HORSE HAS DAMAGED OR WORN TEETH AND CANNOT EAT HAY: Triple Crown Senior can be fed as the sole feed for your horse. Provide salt and fresh, clean water on a free-choice basis. Adjust the amount of Triple Crown Senior fed on a daily basis in order to maintain the horse's body condition at a moderate level. Begin with approximately 12 pounds of Triple Crown Senior per day and then adjust up or down as needed after 2 to 4 weeks in order to maintain desired body condition. Do not feed more than 5 pounds of Triple Crown Senior at a single meal. Allow 3 to 4 hours between meals when feeding 4 to 5 pounds of Triple Crown Senior at a single meal. Water should be added to Triple Crown Senior at the rate of approximately 1 cup of water per 2 to 3 pounds of Triple Crown Senior 10 to 15 minutes prior to feeding. The amount of water added can be adjusted to meet the desires of the individual horse.
NOTE: Provide plenty of fresh, clean water at all times. Keep product fresh in cool, dry storage. Examine product daily for mold or insect contamination. DO NOT use product that is old, molded or insect contaminated.
***The following coefficients of variation (cv) can be associated with the carbohydrate analyses. These should reasonably account for both sampling and analytical variation, though as you know, poor sampling can lead to much larger variation. The coefficients of variation (cv) for starch is 10%, WSC is 15% and ESC is 15%. For example, a feed with a WSC value of 10% should be expected to range from 8.5 – 11.5% and a WSC value of 20% to range from 17 – 23%. In addition, there are variables on ingredients between suppliers that could be as much as an additional 5% to 10% per ingredient. Therefore, products, such as TC 30% Supplement potentially would have a smaller variation than TC Lite due to the number of bulk ingredients making up the feed (2 vs. 4).
